Dear students!

UIB Career Center asks you to pay particular attention to the following information about the most frequently asked questions at the interview:

  • Talk about yourself in brief. In the short answer,  you can talk about your education and
work experience along the way trying to prove that you are an excellent candidate for the
    available position.
  • What are your strengths? Emphasize primarily, the quality useful for this
job. Confirm your strengths with examples from your life.
  • What are your weaknesses? In no case do not answer to this question honestly. It is
best to name such a disadvantage that would be a logical continuation of your
    best qualities.
  • Why should we hire you? You are supposed to   know the details of the company well
and clearly  can imagine your  role in it.
  • Why did you leave your previous job (decided to change the place of) work? You
should not talk about the conflict, even if there was, and accuse of the employer. Give
a reason like; due to the upcoming reorganization; or can not realize full potential, or
there is no opportunity for professional growth.
  • Whether your private life will prevent the work connected with travelling and
working long hours? The law forbids the employer to be interested in whether marital
status of applicants will influence on work. If an employer still asks this question you
should always give negative answer .
  • What salary do you expect? It is better to try to avoid the answer by saying that you do
not think that salary should be discussed firstly. If you still have to name a sum, say it
should be slightly above average, or about upper and lower limits the expected amount.
  • What would you like to know more? Never say that you don’t have any questions. You
can ask about the content of your future work, about what the company expects from the
    candidate, etc.
  • What are your biggest accomplishments? Make a list of the  biggest achievements over
the last 5 years. As far as possible, prove it using figures in order to estimate your
    success.
  • What kind of person should be a chief? In fact, they want to find out whether you tend
to  conflicts with your superiors. The ideal answer would be: competent, strong leader,
from whom I could learn, who will give me a chance to realize my own strength, who
    will teach me.

Some additional questions you may be asked at the interview:

  • What do you do at your usual day?
  • Do you usually agree or argue, and why?
  • If you give a choice:  will you prefer to make plans or to carry them out?
  • What are you interested in trying your hand?
  • Name 3 situations in which you did not manage to become successful.  Why?
  • Name 3 features of the character which you would like to improve. Why?
  • Why are you interested in getting this position?
  • What advantage can you give to the firm?

At the end of the meeting say thank you to the interviewer for the attention paid to you.

Remember!!! The impression which you will make on the employer, and also image of the University as a whole depends on the degree of your preparation to the interview.

We wish you Success!
