Greeting of Dean of MBA Program

Business education - is, above all education for the sake of career, for business success in relation to personality or to organization.

If education for other professions in many respects focused on science - (that somehow reflected in certain state standards or other "unique requirements"), in the business education the most important thing about it is its flexibility and adaptability to the needs, interests and goals to the specifically interested groups, no matter if it is a corporation, which is changing its strategy in a market economy, or a person who wants to build a new life and to choose a new career.

                                                                 Sincerely, Dean of MBA program

The method used for determining the student average points is called the GPA or the method of average weighted assessment. GPA varies from 0.00 to 4.00. This average point is calculated as follows.

  1. One credit corresponds to approximately one-hour lesson per week, for example, if we say that the course consists of three credits, it means that this course lasts three hours per week.
  2. Each grade corresponds to the average point which is based on a10-point system, as shown above (grade F is not counted in GPA).

Example: The course consists of three credits with B grade, will have an average point 9 (the number of credits multiplied by the score, we get total point on this course).

In order to calculate the average student’s point in all subjects, the same process is used for each course separately, and then the total point is divided by the total number of credits.

Sample:

Accounting

3 credits

Multiplied by2 points(С) = 6 points

Marketing

3 credits

Multiplied by3 points(В) = 9 points

Management

3 credits

Multiplied by3 points(В) = 9 points

Corporate Finance

3 credits

Multiplied by4points (А) = 12 points

Business law

3 credits

Multiplied by 4 points (A) = 12 points

Total

15 credits

48 points

48 points divided by 15 credits. Final grade point average GPA = 3.20

Uncompleted course. Grade "F" is put down, if you have not complied with the requirements in full on the course, but the largest part of it is completed. It is your duty - to inform the teacher and to reach an agreement on the implementation of the remaining requirements of the course. If these requirements are not fulfilled during the year, the  course is not automatically counted.

Minimum requirements for a degree

Each full course equals three credits. The minimum requirement for a degree 48 (1 subject = 3 credits) credits plus English language, i.e.a student should study the 7 basic training courses 7 subjects from the area of specialization, the course of « Business English » and the course "Preparation and writing Master's dissertation. In case of passing TOEFL tests  by the student (minimum 550 points) or IELTS (minimum 6.0) and presenting a certificate to the Dean's office, he is exempted from the course "Business English. At least 18 out of the required 48 credits must be earned at the UIB. Students are also necessary to write  Master's dissertation and defend it. During the first two weeks of the semester in which the student plans to finish his studies and gets a Diploma, he must check all received points. For more information, contact the program coordinator.

Attendance. Minimum number of attendance hours for each training course is 80% of the total number of hours for this course. Attendance is monitored regularly. Medical certificates are not valid.

Honesty. This is a must for the students of the University of International Business to meet standards of academic behavior. Copying is strictly prohibited in any form or plagiarism. Moreover, all students must inform their teachers about the sources of additional information and assistance received during execution of any tasks. As punishment for academic dishonesty, the teacher may put “F” for the course.

Transfer System

With a 48-credit program at UIB you can transfer no more than 18 credits from another university. UIB administration and staff of the program will consider whether the course completed is relevant to the offered at UIB, and whether it can be accounted. In order the courses completed within other institutions, were accounted, you must also submit a transcript of the diploma with a seal, where   the academic record of completed course would reflect   grades and number of credits (hours). Students trained in the specialized program or attending individual courses at UIB, and willing to be transferred in future to the MBA program may transfer courses taken before, and they will be considered valid.
