GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of “Finance and credit "is one of the leading departments of the University which graduates   students specializing in “Finance."
The activities of the department aim to implement high-level teaching methods, research and educational work with aim of graduating of highly skilled professionals in demand in the financial sphere.

Teaching and Methodical work

The most important task of the department is preparing teaching materials for all the studied subjects according to the requirements of  the  State Educational Standards and the Typical programs, providing conducting classes in a highly professional level.
Teachers of the department have developed and published textbooks and teaching aids in the Kazakh and Russian languages, corresponding to the highest standards and are used by students in the learning process.
For all the studied subjects working programs and the syllabus, including the methodical guidelines for the implementation of seminars, SIS and TSIS have been developed.
The disciplines in which students have to write course papers Methodical guidelines for the fulfillment of course papers have been worked out. They include course paper themes and performance rules. In order to improve the quality of teaching, the Department regularly hosts public lectures and organizes mutual visits of teachers’ classes.
Teachers of the department have developed textbooks and manuals in electronic form, which enables students to study through the Internet. Department continually monitors the current progress of students
To improve the quality of disciplines read and encourage  the students activity in the learning process the following  forms of education are used:  business games, case-study, round tables on various topical issues of financial and banking sector, the solution of case problems.
The teachers of the department use new teaching technologies, some special courses are  designed for wide use of computers and related technology. In the educational process to actively New teaching methods are effectively used in the teaching process.  The teaching process is implemented  using practical data in order to bring theory to practice.

DEPARTMENT SPECIALTIES:

“Finance"

The main purpose of training specialists in the field of finance is to build students' professional skills in the organization and functioning of financial institutions.
An economist who is specialized "Finance" should be prepared for professional activity in financial institutions of different levels such as: banks, stock exchanges, insurance companies, investment funds, economic services of enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership,  in positions that require professional knowledge and high intelligence.
Experts in the field of finance should have a complex knowledge of state and local finance, banking and insurance, money circulation, financial management, stock market, taxes and taxation.
The specialty involves the study of the formation and execution of budgets of different levels, the mechanism of public debt management, extra-budgetary funds functioning, planning order, accounting and reporting in enterprises, organizations, institutions, organizations, and cash management businesses, the investment activities of economic actors, especially the organization of corporate finance and organizations, banking and insurance. The Department graduates can work in government agencies and private businesses such as:

1. Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
2. Customs Committee;
3. Tax Committee;
4. Treasury Department;
5. Financial Control Committee and government procurement;
6. Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Institutions;
7. Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan;
8. National Bank of Kazakhstan and its divisions;
9. Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican budget;
10. Financial services enterprises in the private and public sectors of the economy;
11. Financial institutions and organizations: the second-tier banks, insurance and brokerage companies, asset management companies, venture funds, credit institutions are entitled to carry out certain banking operations.

The main objective of the specialty is the preparation of highly qualified professionals able to work effectively in a market economy, taking into account the specifics of modern Kazakhstan

Requirements for the level of training of a graduates majoring in “Finance”

A certified specialist in “Finance” must

• have a systematic picture of the patterns and trends of development of Kazakhstan and world economies;
• understand the variety of economic processes in the modern world, their relationship to other processes taking place in society;
• be able to use in his/her practice knowledge of the theory of finance, money and credit;
• know the fundamentals of monetary management, the correlation between different parts of the cash flow, cash and trade, the basics of banking and exchange business, the basics of taxation and insurance, state and local finance;
• be prepared for professional work in institutions of financial and credit system, including the external economic sphere, able to work independently on jobs requiring an analytical approach in unusual situations;
• solve non-standard tasks, predict the economic processes in the field of monetary, financial and credit relations;
• see the prospects of financial and credit relations and the prospects of his/her  professional activities;
• be competitive, have knowledge of related expertise;
• be able to arrange his/her work scientifically, know  computer methods of information accumulation, storing and processing (editing) used in the sphere of his/her professional activities, use modern information technology.

The department runs “Financier’s Club” students organization.
